Nasi Goreng Recipe
Nasi Goreng at glance: Indonesia’s take on fried rice, nasi goreng is a beloved comfort food. It’s typically cooked with a mixture of sweet soy sauce, garlic, shallots, and topped with a fried egg.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups cooked rice (preferably cold)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 shallots, sliced
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 chicken breast, thinly sliced (optional)
- 3 tbsp sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tsp chili paste (sambal oelek)
- 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn)
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Fried shallots (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add garlic and shallots, stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add the chicken and cook until done.
- Push the chicken to the side and pour the beaten eggs into the other side. Scramble the eggs and mix with the chicken.
- Add the cooked rice and stir to combine.
- Add the sweet soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and chili paste. Mix well.
- Add the mixed vegetables and stir-fry for a few more minutes.
- Garnish with green onions and fried shallots. Serve hot.
